MADEBE LIDAI - The Unsung Hero of Bongo Film.

Image
He is popularly known as Nabii Mswahili, A name he acquired from one of the many films he has produced and been part of the cast as the protagonist. For reasons he wishes not to disclose, Lidai, through his movies and acts has always portrayed himself as a person of very low status in society. However, he tries to demystify the assumption that people considered financially 'poor' by society are not necessarily academically poor. In case you are lost in Tanzania and try to find him by his official name;  Athumani Mbinga,  you will be lost forever, never to be found until the second liberation of Christians come to be. You better stick to the old, sweet names of Madebe Lidai and Nabii Msawahili- that is if you ever want to meet him in person or follow up on him. Madebe lidai is a Tanzanian artist who has created a name for himself through his repetitive use of Swahili proverbs artistically to create humour and educate his audiences. The Movie star, who very little is known a...

Commuters Beware

There are a group of youthful men snatching unsuspecting commuters of their phones and valuables abord PSVs on our roads. The men step into moving vehicles especially from town towards Jogoo road as conductors are busy collecting bus fares from passengers aboard, and usually at the back of the bus. One might be tempted to think they are ‘assistant touts’ or ‘co-touts’ to the one already onboard, especially if and when your bus only has one at that time To them, two minutes is just too much time for them to plan, skim, and execute their mission and drop off the moving vehicles. They are very good at skimming their targets and are mostly interested in valuables such as phones, tablets, watches, etc. that the unsuspecting travelers carry in their hands while seated. It is always difficult to tell whether they are true conductors or muggers, reason being they are either dressed in a similar manner as the true touts, or the touts are dressed in a similar manner to them. Anyway, who dare...

I Met A Woman

I met a woman, one I've never met before, For a while, I spoke more fluent than before She stole my heart and put it right next to her's She changed the color and smell of air to that of her's I tasted, yes I surely did But to date I don't know her taste, Remember, I did nor eat, but I tasted. To date am not sure of who she is, Whether a girl, a woman or lady. The more she walks, the more I love, The more she talks, the weaker I become, The stronger the bonds between us merge, I wish I had the power to tell her so, To look directly into her eyes, Kneel down on one knee And happily tell her 'baby, I love you  so, will you be my baby? My miracle baby that I never sired?' I wish I was as romantic as I feel, So I could take her for  a walk in the park, Or a special Valentine's dinner for two, Then we'll have memories to look back to But this could only come true, If I had the guts to tell her 'I love you'. But look at the ...

Becoming a Better student

This is the second piece as was promised in the first edition of my blogpost titled 'Becoming a better Student (part 1)'. In the first piece, we learnt that one needs to be prayerful, focused, a good time Manager, action oriented and able to walk the lonely path to success. Actually, these principle are not only applicable to students but to everyone who wants to succeed in life. In this edition, we I will base my discussion on general things I have learnt so far in life and not entirely on Dr.Ontieri's  lecture in early 2017. Well I think a better heading for this could be; Top Secrets to Greatness. Know who to trust Everyone in your neighborhood need not know of every struggle and joy you go through.  It has been my conviction that when everyone can tell the story of your life, then, you are not headed the right way. Let only your public life be known to the public and your private life be personal. Some people we tell our personal stories are not ...
